Burlington House School’s Senior School curriculum is mainstream in structure yet specialist in nature, equipping pupils with the skills and confidence they need to succeed in public examinations, including GCSEs. Pupils are guided towards pathways that suit their strengths, so that they leave with qualifications that are meaningful to them and that allow them to progress confidently to the next stage of their education.
A curriculum that is mainstream in structure, specialist in nature
Our curriculum provides pupils who have individual learning profiles with personalised support that is tailored to their needs, alongside opportunities to unlock their strengths and thrive. It forms part of an all-through curriculum for pupils aged 7 to 19 across our Prep, Senior and Sixth Form sites, built on a deep knowledge of each pupil as an individual.
How we support pupils through their GCSEs
Specialist teaching is supported by assistive technology in the classroom, the targeted use of intelligent assessment, and both therapeutic and academic intervention. This allows us to identify gaps in pupils’ understanding or knowledge and to accelerate progress, so that pupils are well prepared for their examinations.
Pathways that suit your child's strengths
Pupils are guided to pathways which suit their strengths and enable them to leave with qualifications that are meaningful to them. Our strong extra-curricular offering helps build self-belief and broaden horizons alongside their academic studies, so that progress is measured in confidence and character as well as in grades.
Preparing for Sixth Form and beyond
Our ambition is that, whenever pupils choose to leave us, they do so as confident individuals who are prepared to become engaged and active members of their communities, and who have built the habits of life-long learners. Many of our pupils continue into our Sixth Form, while others move on to the next stage of their education or training.
