BTEC Level 1&2 Award in Home Cooking Skills
BTEC Home Cooking Skills for Year 10 and 11 at Level 1 and Level 2 focuses on developing practical cooking abilities, confidence in the kitchen, and an understanding of basic nutrition. Students learn how to prepare and cook a range of simple, healthy dishes safely and hygienically, while building essential skills such as measuring ingredients, using equipment correctly, and following recipes. The course also introduces learners to the principles of a balanced diet, meal planning, budgeting, and reducing food waste. As students progress, they are encouraged to work more independently, demonstrate time management, and adapt recipes to suit different needs, helping them gain valuable life skills that support healthy, everyday living.
