All Children Can Achieve

Sixth Form

Welcome from the Head of Burlington House Sixth Form

I am very pleased to welcome you to Burlington House Sixth Form.

Our Sixth Form is now two years old, and I believe we are well on our way to being the best option for students who wish to complete their Sixth Form studies in an atmosphere of true inclusivity within an adult learning environment.

Leaving school and choosing a Sixth Form or College can be an anxious time for students and parents alike but from very positive recent student and parental feedback I believe we have found the right mix.

When I say that I believe we have found the right mix, I use the following examples to reinforce what I mean. About half of our Sixth Form is made up of students progressing on from the Senior School, the other half are from external schools and colleges. Some of our students have come from huge schools and have a love of football or music, but have never played in a team or been in a band. When they join us, we will create a football team and get our students to join our Sixth Form band – The Enzo’s.

We offer a large variety of courses, more than some much more established Sixth Forms and believe we have something to suit everyone within a warm, friendly and nurturing environment.

Students of the Sixth Form will find an environment where they will be treated as young adults and offered bespoke programmes and extracurricular opportunities. The aim of this is to support our students to grow into adulthood, experience the world of work, broaden interests and build confidence so that all can reach their full potential.

Our teachers are highly qualified subject specialists with vast experience in working with young people with SpLDs (Specific Learning Difficulties). The students we work with are at the very centre of what we do and our team of staff will work with them every step of the way to keep them on track, overcome any barriers to learning and help plan for the future.

As professionals, setting up a new Sixth Form has been an exciting time in our careers and we really do see it as a privilege to be able to develop young adults in transitioning from school life and preparing them for adulthood.

I warmly invite you to come and visit our students and our wonderful Sixth Form Centre. I am convinced you will like what you see.
