Who is this qualification for?

This course suits people who are prepared to work individually and as part of a team. Motivation is important as you will sometimes need to work on your own, in your own time, as well as under supervision. You need to have good research and time management skills.

What does this qualification cover?

  • Unit 1: Enterprise in the Business World:
In this unit you will explore different types of businesses and create a model for a business start-up in your local area. This unit is internally assessed.
  • Unit 2: Finance in Business:
Every business must be financially healthy to survive. In this unit, you will learn that to achieve this, the amount of money a business spends must be less than the money it receives. This unit is externally assessed with a finance test.
  • Unit 9: Principles of Marketing:
Marketing is a process used by businesses. It starts with understanding the needs and expectations of current and future customers. It then moves on to examining how these customer needs can be fulfilled at a profit. This unit will explore why the role of marketing is so important and consider how businesses use market research to make key decisions. This unit is externally assessed with a controlled assessment.

How will my work be assessed?

You will be assessed in a variety of ways. Some of these include practical tasks such as presentations and role plays. You will also be assessed internally through written portfolio work and timed assessments.
Two of the 8 units covered in this certificate are externally assessed: Unit 2: Finance in Business will be externally examined. Unit 9: Principle of Marketing will be externally examined.
