What a day out for The Moat FC at the second set of league fixtures for the Fulham FC 6-a side Inclusive School League.
Our girls team remained undefeated and there were some standout performances in each of their games. Georgia ‘Messi’ Willcox weaved her way through players to score a league-high 15 goals, 8 of which came in one game! Ella scored one of the goals of the day, latching onto a half clearance and hitting it first time right into the top corner off the post – PING. Eva worked tirelessly up front and made some crucial saves when called upon in goal. Lily battled like a seasoned pro, never giving the opponents a minute’s rest, often taking on players twice her size….and winning. Mention must also be given to Lily’s great goal in the first game, what a way to introduce yourself to the team! Nika led from the front and dug in during a crucial game, delivering a captain’s performance and inspiring the team to a 1-0 victory. Fia was an important member of the team filling in for others and supporting our younger team members. Erin ‘1-2’ Ward was instrumental in keeping the ball moving with her quick passes feeding our attacking players and collecting assists.
Our top of the table KS4 boys team got off to a bright start putting their opponents to the sword 5-0. The stand out performance in that game came from Twinkle Toes Yusuf, who bagged a hattrick and tucked away a sublime free-kick leaving the keeper clueless. Tireless work from Elias ensured our team bossed possession in every game and he often turned the ball over high in the opposition’s half leading to a huge amount of chances created, he even chipped in with the odd goal. Jackson did well to shake off an early injury and ran the wings producing a vital goal when our team was up against it. Tom martialed our backline and always attempted to break the opponent’s lines with intricate through balls, he even managed to find space in the opponent’s area and was denied a pride boosting goal by an inspired goalkeeper. Theo was our rock at the back, often our last man he had to time his tackles to perfection, ruffling feathers and never shying from a tackle, every team needs a Theo. Thomas ‘The Brick Wall’ Chubb only conceded 3 goals over 4 games, a record even David De Gea would be pleased with. Riley made a great impression on his first outing for Moat FC, he had to ride a couple of big challenges first off but replied with a couple of glorious assists, nothing better than letting your football do the talking. Joseph ‘Nutmeg’ Jermy often put his body on the line and tucked away his first goal for the Moat, more to follow I’m sure. Bartek and Aaron were fearless at the back getting the ball and passing it quickly to keep the game played at the pace we wanted. Alfie was courageous in overcoming nerves and made it onto the pitch for the final game, stepping in at the centre back to see the game out.
Very successful performances from both teams sets up a great final set of fixtures to be played in May/June. I think it’s fair to say “It’s Coming Home”.
