We aim to create a positive Mathematics experience for all the children in the Prep School – Key Stages 2-3.
The pupils are taught daily in small groups by skilled teachers and learning support assistants using multi-sensory teaching methods. Years 3-6 are taught Mathematics by their form teacher while Year 7 are taught by a specialist teacher.
For many children with specific learning differences, Mathematics is an abstract concept therefore practical activities are used to introduce the concepts across the curriculum.
It is vital for the pupils to have the opportunity to build up their mathematical competency via concrete, pictorial and abstract approaches. Pupils with specific learning differences benefit from over learning and consolidation before truly understanding a concept.
