Co-curricular Enrichment at Burlington House School
At Burlington House School, we believe that education goes beyond the classroom. Our Co-curricular Enrichment Programme is designed to support students’ wellbeing, promote personal development, and help them discover and grow new interests and skills.
Enrichments take place every Wednesday and Friday before lunch, providing students with valuable time to reset, connect with others, and explore different creative, practical, and recreational activities.
Our Enrichment Ethos
- Wellbeing-focused: Time away from academic work to recharge
- Skills-driven: A chance to explore new interests and talents
- Student-led: Each enrichment group includes a student leader who works alongside the teacher to shape the programme, encouraging pupil voice and shared ownership
Each term is built around a unique theme, allowing the enrichment programme to evolve throughout the year.
Autumn Term – Theme: Social Skills & Independence
This term focuses on organisation, social interaction, and independent choice-making. Students are encouraged to think about how they connect with others and take responsibility for their learning beyond the classroom.
In true Burlington House style, students voted for the clubs they wanted. This term’s enrichments include:
- Classic Board Games
- Lego Art
- Mindful Colouring
- Film Club
- Drama Games
- Sports Coaching
- Art Club
- Clay Club
- Retro Gaming
- Music Band Workshop
Spring Term – Theme: Learning New Skills
The focus shifts to growth through new experiences. During their SFL (Skills for Learning) lessons, students will vote on enrichment options that introduce them to practical life skills and creative challenges they may not have tried before.
Learning new skills boosts confidence, resilience, and curiosity, supporting both academic and personal growth.
Examples of upcoming enrichment options may include:
- Photography
- Digital music production
- Cooking and nutrition
- Public speaking
- DIY and design
- Coding and robotics
Summer Term – Theme: Getting Out Into Our Community
In the final term, students take their skills outside the classroom and into the wider world. The focus is on community connection, service, and real-world experiences.
Summer enrichment activities include:
- Mindful walks along the Thames
- Outdoor gym sessions at Bishop’s Park
- Visits to Fulham Palace to explore local history
- Valet Car Service for staff
- Caretaker’s Club – helping with site maintenance tasks
- Event Planning Committee – helping organise our annual Summer Festival
These opportunities not only build independence and teamwork but also give students a sense of purpose and pride in contributing to their school and local community.
